Sesia Fruits is a 40-acre small family farm developed from previously unfarmed land near Sesia village, nestled in the Kerio Valley, located in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. Sesia Fruits lies at around 1,300 meters above sea level. Work on the farm began in 2021.
We are dedicated to providing our customers and community high-quality and affordable produce that is produced safely and efficiently, while being good stewards of the land. Whereas we may use pesticides here and there, we try to use only organic fertilizers.
Sesia Fruits specializes in growing pixie oranges (8,000 trees), papayas (9,000 plants), mangoes (270 trees), and watermelons. Whereas the adjoining areas receive ample rain, Kerio valley is relatively dry necessitating the use of irrigation water. To satisfy our water needs, we operate two wells drilled down to an average depth of 130 meters. With this, we are able to pump, using solar-energy assisted pumps, about 16,000 liters of water per hour. To be as efficient in our water use as possible, we utilize drip irrigation.
